I study the vasculature and neuronal map, along with the pathology and histology, in regards to strokes in mice. Along with studying this, I am also working on understanding the mechanism or route by which cell death occurs when there is a stroke, such as apoptosis, etc. I ablate a blood vessel in the brain of the mouse producing an occlusion using femtosecond laser pulses and then image the brain using two-photon microscopy to study the neural and vasculature mapping. I am a junior in Human Ecology and I’m majoring in Human Biology, Heath & Society and minoring in music. I joined the lab this past summer and plan to graduate in May 2011. I considering applying for a Master’s program here at Cornell, but am not sure in which field yet.
