I am designing and constructing the surgical and physiology monitoring equipment necessary to prepare rodents for optical imaging of their brain and to transport these laboratory animals while monitoring and maintaining the their health. Utilizing the imaging capabilities of a two-photon florescence microscope, I will then observe the effects of small scale strokes on the health and functionality of brain cells in these animals. I am currently a Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering junior minoring in Biomedical Engineering.
