Robert is a Biomedical Engineering PhD student who joined the Schaffer-Nishimura Labin 2020 under the guidance of Dr. Nishimura. He is originally from Frederick, MD and attended the University of Maryland where he majored in Bioengineering and minored in Neuroscience. During his undergraduate career, Robert’s research focused on developing a nanoparticle-based method to more effectively monitor disease progression in patients with obstructive lung diseases. Within the Schaffer-Nishimura Lab, Robert is interested in investigating the effect of neuroinflammation and the immune system on cerebral blood flow and in the initiation and progression of neurodegenerative diseases. In his free time, Robert enjoys playing sports, cooking, and hiking.
